Charles Francis Jenkins (1867-1934) was an American inventor and early pioneer in the field of motion pictures and television. He is credited with inventing the first publicly demonstrated television system in the United States. Jenkins developed a mechanical system that used rotating disks to capture and display images, which he called the "Phonovision."
